Consumers Pessimistic About Economy – But Remain Positive About Home Buying

Consumer sentiment about the economy dropped to a nine-month low this month, according to the latest Thomson Reuters/University of Michigan’s index. The index slipped to 72.3 in April, a reading last posted in July, 2012. Americans’ long-term view of the economy was even more negative, with many respondents predicting higher unemployment and lower after-tax income during the next year. However, there were positive attitudes about plans for purchasing homes and vehicles.
